AI is transforming criminal investigations, offering new capabilities while creating new risks. This session equips investigators and MDT members to use emerging tools ethically, recognize and address synthetic CSAM and other threats, and mitigate AI-driven risks in their work.

Full Description: Artificial intelligence is reshaping criminal investigations, offering powerful tools while also introducing new threats. This session will provide investigators and multidisciplinary team members with a robust understanding of AI’s impact, from leveraging AI for investigative purposes to addressing the dangers of synthetic child sexual abuse material and other harmful material. Participants will also learn how to mitigate AI-related risks and incorporate emerging technologies ethically and effectively in their work.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Explain AI’s role in child abuse investigations, including its potential for investigative utility and risks associated with synthetic media.

  • Implement AI tools to enhance criminal investigations.

  • Articulate the scope of emerging AI-related threats such as sextortion and synthetic child sexual abuse material.
