Macc Bucc: The Pursuit of Dallas' Most Prolific Pimp

Title slide for case study workshop titled "Macc Bucc: The Pursuit of Dallas' Most Prolific Pimp"

This workshop examines the Anthony “Macc Bucc” Johnson trafficking case to explore how traffickers recruit, manipulate, and maintain control over victims—and why victims may remain loyal despite severe exploitation. Detective David Clark also breaks down the multi-jurisdictional investigative strategies used to corroborate victim accounts and build a prosecutable case.

Suggested Audience: Law enforcement

Full Description: Anthony Johnson, known on the streets as “Macc Bucc,” built one of Dallas’s most notorious prostitution rings through a combination of violence, manipulation, intimidation, and psychological control. Over the course of nearly two decades, he exploited vulnerable women while creating relationships of dependency and loyalty that made investigation and prosecution especially difficult. Using the Johnson case as a practical case study, this workshop examines the tactics traffickers use to recruit and control victims, the psychological dynamics that can cause victims to remain loyal to their trafficker, and the investigative methods detectives used to gather and corroborate evidence across multiple jurisdictions. Participants will also see how collaboration among investigators and agencies helped transform fragmented information into a prosecutable case.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the strategies used by Anthony “Macc Bucc” Johnson to recruit, exploit, and maintain control over victims within a long-standing trafficking operation.

  • Explain the psychological and emotional factors that contribute to victim loyalty toward traffickers, including coercion, manipulation, and dependency.

  • Examine how detectives collaborated across agencies and jurisdictions to gather intelligence, corroborate victim statements, and build a prosecutable case.

Speaker(s): David Clark
