Investigating & Addressing AI-Facilitated Exploitation

Title slide for training simulation titled "Investigating and Addressing AI-Facilitated Exploitation"

Explore the complexities of AI-driven child exploitation in this immersive, hands-on simulation. Participants will bridge the gap between digital evidence and the courtroom, process mock crime scenes, analyze AI-generated evidence, and conduct live suspect interrogations.

Suggested Audience: All MDT members

Full Description: This immersive, hands-on training simulation is designed to equip multidisciplinary teams with the specialized skills needed to navigate the complexities of modern child exploitation cases. As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the landscape of digital abuse, investigators must be adept at identifying and connecting traditional physical evidence with sophisticated digital evidence, including AI-generated content.

Throughout this session, participants will move beyond theory into experiential exercises. Working in collaborative teams, attendees will:

  • Process a mock crime scene to identify and collect physical and digital evidence.

  • Observe forensic interviews and analyze online activity to strengthen case theory.

  • Engage in live suspect interrogations with professional actors, requiring real-time reassessment of investigative strategies.

  • Navigate the legal process to request evidence and ultimately make informed charging decisions based on evolving facts.

By simulating the full lifecycle of an investigation—from the initial scene to the final charging decision—this course ensures that law enforcement and child advocacy professionals are prepared to address the unique challenges of AI-facilitated image abuse and school-based scenarios.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and integrate physical, digital, and AI-generated evidence in child exploitation cases, including indicators specific to AI-facilitated image abuse and school-based scenarios.

  • Strengthen case theory through multidisciplinary analysis of forensic interviews, online activity, and suspect behavior.

  • Apply investigative and legal strategies to move cases from crime scene to charging, including evidence requests and interrogation planning.
